WOULD YOU CALL IT AN AFFAIR? (09/19/2012)

I'm having a long term relationship with my Kindle.. I even use the Kindle App on my Ipad. I have no complaints and I'll be faithful until something better comes along.

The following Wall Street Journal article was sent to me by my son. He thought I would appreciate it...I do, but can't relate at all.

See what you think!

  1. Hi Joyce - I had seen this article. I too really love my Kindle Fire. I know people lament the decline of paper books and therefore disparage the E - readers.

I find the dictionary function indispensable. As I read a lot of history I find the ability to looks things up as I read addicting.

One thing that I lament is the decline of the independent book store. There is still one great one and a few not so great ones near where I live, however.

Amazon is also convenient but I would rather buy from an independent then a large corporation.

    1. What I do now is look up stuff on my phone(which I keep on my person at all times) ;) I'm like Brian and I read a lot of history and I want to look up more information a LOT.

  2. I agree about the Indie book stores..One near me has added a huge gift and toy department which is larger than the book section...kind of a sad commentary.
Another book store on Martha's Vineyard relocated to smaller quarters and seems to be doing well.. They are a real tourist attraction so that helps.

  3. I've been on the fence about buying a Kindle for a long while now. A few new ones will be on the market soon (Oct 1st I believe?)and I'll probably crack and get one then.

Speaking of indie books/e-readers Indiebound has an e-reader app now. I don't know how it works exactly but I thought I'd throw that out there.

I'm in the market for an e-reader mostly because I've been approved to review some books on Edleweiss and NetGalley and I have no interest in sitting at my computer to read them in an Adobe format. Zzzz, no thanks! ;)

    1. There are so many e book choices available now and all reasonably priced. Try different ones before you make a decision. I like instant gratification so getting a book in a few seconds makes me very happy!I
You'll find the kindle very user friendly when downloading from sites like Netgalley.
THANKYOU for the Indie App information too.
